Medications for Opioid Use Disorder
Alliance Recovery Center treats opioid use disorder with medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) — methadone or buprenorphine, paired with counseling and medical care — at our Athens, Conyers, and Decatur clinics.
How treatment progresses
New clients come into the clinic daily to receive medication, counseling, and medical care. As you progress in treatment, you may become eligible for take-home medication based on your time in treatment and your history of negative drug screens. For some clients, this can happen as early as the first month, allowing clinic visits to become less frequent over time.
How quickly that happens is different for everyone. You’re not on someone else’s schedule, and you’re not behind if your path looks different from the person next to you in the lobby.
Every client gets an individualized treatment plan built around their own experiences and needs. Some people choose long-term methadone or buprenorphine maintenance and stay on it for life. Others work toward becoming less dependent on medication. Both are legitimate. Both are yours to decide with your treatment team.
One thing we do ask: try not to walk in with a timeline in mind. Treatment tends to go better when you let it take the time it takes.
Warm, Inviting and Professional Atmospheres At Each Location

Counseling
Our goal is to help you step away from addictive behaviors and work through whatever led to substance use in the first place. That work happens in counseling, individual and group.
Our counseling staff is licensed at the master’s level, and you’ll be assigned a primary counselor when you’re admitted. Individual counseling isn’t optional here—it’s a required part of treatment. Group counseling is optional, but we strongly encourage participation. There’s something powerful about being in a room with people who understand what you’re going through. The shared experience, support, and perspective can be an important part of recovery.
There is no additional cost for individual or group counseling. It’s included.
Group sessions
Groups run daily at each location. Days and times change from time to time, so check the current schedule posted at your clinic. Here’s a sample of the topics we cover:

Medical Care
Medical services are available daily, with a team of medical providers, nurses, and pharmacists working together to monitor your progress and make adjustments to your medication when needed.
We’re also here for your overall health—not just your treatment. If you have a health concern or a question about something unrelated to your recovery, we encourage you to ask. Every client receives a comprehensive physical exam at admission and annually thereafter, helping us identify health concerns early and make sure you’re getting the care you need.
